After honing her baking skills at a New York patisserie, Rowan is back in her hometown of Charlevoix, Michigan, not far from historic Mackinac Island. Living with her boisterous extended family is a temporary step while she looks for the sweet job of her dreams. When her grandmother calls from her retirement home and asks her to make something special she can serve her friends, Rowan has no idea it’s a set-up—until she finds out Gramma Brid has secretly entered her in a pastry contest. 

The prize-winner will land a chance to earn some dough at chef Jeremy Brandt’s new pop-up supper club. Rowan is confident her Polish cake will win—only to find herself upstaged by an unpleasant competitor with an unsavory past. Looks like the fix is in.
