By that age, I had already mastered language.
I had a good memory and was an expert at hiding it.
I was raised as a hearing person and among hearing people.
I was a normal person, though a bit absent-minded.
I just had to pay more attention—or so I was told.
No one ever said the words “deaf” or “deafness.”
And I just focused on surviving.
This is my story.
