Snaketown

Carl Hiaasen meets A.S. King in this darkly funny and surreal novel about three teens bound together by their absurd plan to save their hometown from corporate exploitation... by releasing several hundred pythons.

Sunset Springs, Florida is going to be wiped off the map in 30 days.

A mega-corporation plans to flood the humble, unassuming town via a “water diversion project.” Their goal? To protect more important (a.k.a. wealthier) areas from hurricanes and the rising sea level.

But sixteen-year-old June Cassidy, her girlfriend Cecily, and her best friend Oliver have a plan to save their hometown. It’s actually gonna be kind of fun: they'll put Sunset Springs on the map by unleashing hundreds of pythons, thereby making the town go viral. Problem solved.

Except it’s not that easy. New problem: It isn't that June has episodes of psychosis. Or that her mom is a hoarder. Or that June will almost certainly lose Cecily along with her home. The problem IS that Sunset Springs is full of fools soaking up the social media attention without considering the stakes. And their quirky little town is about to disappear!

Chaotic humor and class warfare collide in this snarky read for fans of We Are the Ants and Grasshopper Jungle.
