Identifying with the vanquished has forged an identity rooted in hardship and victimhood, preventing us from truly understanding who we are. The official narrative has robbed us of our past, our present, and our future.

True to his distinctive style, Juan Miguel Zunzunegui challenges Mexico’s official history and offers a provocative reinterpretation.

Throughout the book, the author questions some of the most deeply entrenched narratives of Mexican national identity, including the Conquest, the Viceroyalty, Independence, the Reform, and the Revolution. Rather than a truthful account of the past, he argues, these narratives amount to a deliberate blueprint for failure. Another History of Mexico is an invitation to reclaim our history, rethink our national identity, and begin to embrace the greatness we are called to achieve.
