He is the author of over 120 short stories, 11 novels, and television scripts, including “Baby is Three”—hailed as one of the “Greatest Science Fiction Novellas of All Time”—and “Slow Sculpture” for which he won the Hugo and Nebula Awards. He died in Eugene, Oregon, on May 8, 1985 and was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 2000.
