Juilliard dropout Dayanara Cruz has been chasing her big break for five years with nothing to show for it. Everything changes when she’s invited to compete on La Nueva Cara, the reality show searching for the new lead of her favorite telenovela, La Misma Cara. The catch? On her audition tape, Daya mentioned having a girlfriend—and now the show’s producer wants her partner on-screen to showcase their relationship. Too bad Daya just dumped her cheating ex. Desperate not to lose her chance, she begs her rebound, Celeste, to pretend to be her girlfriend and come with her to Mexico City. Celeste warns her that the powerful Villanueva family behind the show is dangerous and only agrees on one condition: Daya must stay out of Villanueva business.

But when they arrive in Mexico, they discover the other wildcard contestant is both her celebrity crush and Celeste’s ex, which complicates everything. Thrown into a campy, high-drama world of manufactured romance, curses, “ghosts,” evil twins, and ruthless sabotage, Daya refuses to be another casualty of reality TV.
