Party at the End of the World: Stories

From the New York Times bestselling author of Stop Me If You've Heard This One, a collection of funny and moving stories about lesbians living in Florida

In each of the thirteen stories in Party at the End of the World, award-winning author Kristen Arnett explores the dynamics of lesbian relationships.

On first meeting, these women seem ordinary, easy to overlook. Yet with a deep understanding of character and an eye for the telling detail, Arnett brings these people to vivid life. From a wife who is confronted by an angry gas station clerk to a sister who tracks down her sibling in a closed amusement park, the women in these tales reveal the fears they harbor, the desires they hold, and the ambitions they nurture.

With central Florida as the setting—with its mix of old and new, real and ersatz—and with the humor that Arnett is known for, Party at the End of the World mines nuggets of emotional insight from the everyday lives of queer women, revealing much about what we all share.
