| William W. Atkinson was one of the leaders of the New Thought movement. In his early career he practiced law in Pennsylvania, but the stress of this work led to a complete physical and mental breakdown, and financial disaster. He looked for healing and in the late 1880s he found it in the New Thought movement. This resulted in the restoration of his health, mental vigor and material prosperity.In 1900 he became associate editor of Suggestion, a New Thought journal, and wrote his first book, Thought-Force in Business and Everyday Life.
