For almost 20 years, Roger Schillerstrom has been providing editorial cartoons to several of the most respected and well-read publications produced by Crain Communications. In 1995, Golfweek magazine (another Crain product) asked Schillerstrom to turn his creative eye toward the game of golf and create cartoons to complement its weekly "commentary" pages. The pairing was an immediate success and it continues to this day.
Drawn to Golf is a carefully selected collection of the most clever and insightful cartoons that Roger has produced for Golfweek over the past eight years. Few, if any, of golf’s most controversial, comical, or sad moments have been overlooked. From the stunning emergence of possibly the greatest player ever – Tiger Woods – to the tragic loss of fan-favorite Payne Stewart. From Jean Van de Velde’s collapse at Carnoustie, to David Duval’s breakthrough at the British Open. Roger has never seen a tournament; he’d never even been on a golf course, let alone play the game. But we soon discovered why he’d been so successful at a variety of publications. All you have to do is give him the germ of an idea, frame the issue, and Roger can turn it into a thought-provoking cartoon—no matter what the topic. It’s a rare skill, and a testament to the nimbleness and agility of Roger’s mind”

“These days, of course, Roger knows the game inside-out. His interpretations of issues consistently hit the mark. Some of his work in this book will make you laugh out loud; other cartoons are more apt to elicit a knowing chuckle. In either case, Roger Schillerstrom’s creations are unlike anything else found in sports journalism, let alone golf. Which makes this collection of his work an ace by any standard.”
—Dave Seanor, Editor, Golfweek
“Roger Schillerstrom, in his eighty years with Golfweek, has drawn over 400 cartoons for our editorial page, and each one crisply and cleverly draws a dead on the key issue of the week.
