Cahiers d’Art has fostered innovation within the European avant-garde for a century; this retrospective work celebrates its vision and contributions to the world of art.

Founded in Paris in 1926 as a publishing house, gallery, and art journal, Cahiers d’Art quickly established itself as a vital platform for the most influential artists, poets, and critical thinkers of the twentieth century. From the earliest issues of La Revue, the editors championed trailblazing artists such as Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and Wassily Kandinsky. Over time, it expanded to feature renowned artists, writers, thinkers, and photographers, including Marcel Duchamp, Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, Dorothea Tanning, Samuel Beckett, Jacques Lacan, Georges Bataille, and Dora Maar, reinforcing the journal’s reputation as a groundbreaking visual and intellectual forum. Since its relaunch in 2012, Cahiers d’Art has revitalized its seminal journal and gallery exhibitions, bridging historical figures like Alexander Calder with contemporary voices such as Arthur Jafa, Gabriel Orozco, Hiroshi Sugimoto, and Rosemarie Trockel.
