Description
This Monograph presents a theory of cognitive development. The theory argues that the mind develops across three fronts. The first refers to a general processing system that defines the general potentials of mind to develop cognitive strategies and skills. The second refers to a hypercognitive system that governs self-understanding and self-regulation. The third involves a set of specialized structural systems that are responsible for the representation and processing of different reality domains. I. Introduction

II. The Architecture of Developing Intellect

III. Study 1: The Empirical Status of Dimensions, Principles, and Specialized Structural Systems

IV. Study 2: Experimental Manipulation of Interdimensional Relations

V. Study 3: Looking Through the Metacognitive Looking Glass

VI. Studies 4 and 5: The Development of the Processing System and Its Relation to the Specialized Structural Systems

VII. General Discussion: Structure, Dynamics, and Individual Variation of Developing Mind

Commentary: Epistemological Problems for Neo-Piagetians / Robert L. Campbell

Reply: Meta-Piagetian Solutions to Epistemological Problems / Andreas Demetriou, Anastasia Efklides and Maria Platsidou
