The Power of Yet: A Picture Book

What if one small word could change the way children face challenges forever?

When a determined little pig becomes frustrated by all the things he can't do, he's ready to give up. Riding a bike, playing the violin, flipping pancakes—some things seem impossible. But with encouragement, practice, patience, and courage, he discovers the life-changing power of one simple word: yet.

Award-winning author-illustrator Maryann Cocca-Leffler brings the growth mindset philosophy to life in a warm, accessible story that helps young readers understand that learning takes time. Mistakes become opportunities, setbacks become stepping-stones, and every challenge becomes a chance to grow.

Filled with cheerful illustrations and an affirming message, The Power of Yet encourages children to develop resilience, perseverance, and confidence as they work toward their goals. Whether learning a new skill, tackling a difficult task, or overcoming frustration, young readers will discover that they may not be able to do it today—but they can do it yet.

Perfect for families, classrooms, counselors, and educators, this uplifting picture book offers an engaging introduction to growth mindset concepts while empowering children to keep trying, keep learning, and believe in what is possible.
