Description
Sevasadan is one of the earliest and most impactful social novels in Hindi literature, written by the legendary Munshi Premchand. Set in colonial India, it explores the life of Suman, a woman caught between personal choices and rigid societal expectations. Through her journey—from a troubled marriage to becoming a courtesan, and finally reclaiming her dignity through service—Premchand exposes the deep-seated hypocrisy of society and raises powerful questions about gender, morality, and freedom. Rich in social commentary and human emotion, Sevasadan remains a timeless reflection on women's rights and the struggle for self-respect in a conservative world. It’s not just a story—it’s a voice of reform.
