He is also the Vice Provost and Director of the University at Buffalo Office of Science, Technology Transfer and Economic Outreach, and Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of the Journal of Periodontology.

Brian A. Burt is Professor Emeritus, Department of Epidemiology, and formerly the Director, Program in Dental Public Health, School of Public Health; and Professor Emeritus, School of Dentistry, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. He was editor of the journal Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology from 1997 to 2007.
