The Red Beast is no more. Two companions stand above its fallen form and take its head for their trophy. But the Red Beast was only the beginning of the hunt. The Seven Cloaks, the strange gemlike guardians of the Cedar Forest, live on. They flee the axe and embed themselves deep in the ancient maze humming with magic. So long as they survive, the cedars can never be claimed for the great City in the east, and the hunt will go unfinished. As the hunters set off after their prey, it soon becomes clear that each Cloak is much more than the simple gemstone whose shape it takes. The trials our companions face in the cedars’ shade will change them – but can they change their fates? Inspired by a brief episode in the Epic of Gilgamesh, this original tale in verse offers an adventure filled with life and doom, and the many colours that burst across both.
